Slovak law provides for the case: the official fee scale prices a marriage where neither spouse has permanent residence in Slovakia. The caveat lies in a heavy file, to be lodged fourteen days ahead, and in which office has jurisdiction, which the sources do not settle.
- The civil registry act requires a foreigner to lodge, at least fourteen days before the wedding: birth certificate, attestation of civil status, attestation of residence, proof of nationality and ID.
- The attestation of civil status must be no more than six months old.
- Foreign documents must be apostilled or legalised and translated into Slovak by a sworn translator. The passport needs no translation.
- Fees recorded: €280 where neither spouse has permanent residence in Slovakia, a further €100 outside the official venue, a further €30 outside official hours.
- An interpreter must attend where there is a language barrier; if not sworn, they take an oath on the spot.
