Yes, and it is the only country in the region where the administration states it plainly: a marriage may be concluded between two foreign nationals. The procedure is published by the national civil registry service.
- Documents from each foreigner: a birth certificate on the international form with apostille, less than six months old; an attestation of marital status with apostille, less than six months old; an attestation of no impediment — or proof that the home country issues none.
- Translation into Macedonian and notarial certification of the documents, particularly where they contain Latin letters absent from the local alphabet.
- A sworn court translator in the foreigner’s language must attend on the day of the marriage.
- Both spouses attend in person before the registrar and sign the record of the marriage.
- After signing, a visit to the Interior Ministry’s foreigners’ department checks that the stay is lawful; only then is the record endorsed.
- Basic service fees: 100 denars of administrative duty and 50 denars for the extract. A ceremony away from official premises is requested on a form, with two to three working days of processing.
