- The marriage is registered no sooner than one month after the application; exceptions exist for pregnancy, serious illness or a long absence.
- A foreign national produces a document from their state’s competent institution attesting that no obstacle to the marriage exists under that state’s law.
- Foreign documents must be translated into Lithuanian and legalised or apostilled, unless the applicable treaties provide otherwise.
- Proof of lawful presence in Lithuania is required both when filing and when the marriage is registered.
- Two adult witnesses with legal capacity; the ceremony is conducted in Lithuanian.
- Fees: €30 for a marriage at the registry office, €70 for a ceremony at a place chosen by the couple.
