The order agencies appear in
The order is calculated, never sold. Here is the whole calculation, with nothing left in a black box.
The default sort: “Relevance”
One parameter only: the average rating, weighted by how many reviews it rests on. In practice, an agency rated 5.0 on three reviews ranks below one rated 4.8 on sixty — because three reviews say almost nothing and sixty say something. Nothing else enters this calculation.
The other sorts, which you choose
Rating alone; starting price, cheapest first; experience, meaning the number of weddings planned; and distance, if you allow geolocation. Your position is then used to sort and to show “40 km away” — it never leaves your browser and is never sent to us.
Filters narrow, they do not re-rank
A filter — language, budget, guest count, service — removes the agencies that do not match. It moves nobody up. An agency dropped by a filter is not ranked lower: it simply does not fit what you are looking for.
On a city page
Agencies based in the city come first, those from around it next, and inside each group the rating decides. An agency cannot pay to appear on the page of a city it is not in.
What enters no calculation
- Money. No agency pays for its position, and no option exists to buy one.
- The sign-up date. Arriving first gives no head start.
- Clicks, views, time spent on a profile.
- Our taste. We do not push an agency up because we like its work.
During the beta
The profiles shown are examples and their ratings are invented. The ranking described here therefore applies to example data: it shows the mechanism, it does not compare real agencies.
If this ever changes
If we ever open paid placement, it will be written on this page before it exists, and every profile concerned will be marked “Ad” where you can see it, not in a footer. A bought position that does not show is a lie.
This page describes our practice. It is not legal advice, and a lawyer will review it before real agencies join.
