Yes. Each spouse obtains their own marriage licence from the municipality. Expect a notice in a local newspaper, a seven-day wait, and strict document requirements.

• Each spouse needs their own marriage licence (άδεια γάμου) from the municipality that will perform the ceremony.
• Documents: a certificate of no impediment less than three to four months old naming both parties, a recent birth certificate, a passport, and every divorce decree — not just the most recent.
• Prior notice in a local daily: the full newspaper page must be handed in, showing the paper’s name and date.
• A seven-day wait from lodging, for possible objections. The licence is then valid for six months.
• Official Greek translation required, by a translator authorised in Greece.
• The request to hold the ceremony must be lodged at least three working days beforehand. One adult witness per spouse.
